Preventive fire protection
Fire fighters visit the pharmaceutical logistics centre
In addition to ensuring the right storage conditions for pharmaceuticals and biologics, the pharmaceutical logistics service provider Pharmaserv Logistics also needs to be well prepared for emergencies, such as a fire. In the event of such a fire, it therefore makes sense for the fire brigade called to assist to be familiar with the local conditions.
To ensure that this is the case, the members of the Giessen-Lützellinden and Giessen-Allendorf volunteer fire fighters visited the logistics centre of the pharmaceutical logistics company in Giessen-Lützellinden last Thursday evening for a guided tour. The potential hazards were discussed and the existing fire detection, smoke extraction and extinguishing systems were inspected.
Between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., the fire brigade tactical procedures for a possible emergency in the pharmaceutical logistics centre, which has three temperature zones and two autostore systems, were discussed under the guidance of Kathrin Pein, the responsible member of staff from the Office for Fire and Civil Protection of the City of Giessen. This also included the fire service access routes, the extinguishing water supply and access routes.
After a detailed tour of the warehouse, office and technical areas of the site, the evening was rounded off with a cold soft drink in the loading yard together with the firefighters.
Pharmaserv Logistics would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteer firefighters for their visit and the interesting dialogue. Our thanks and respect go to the volunteers who give up their free time to be on duty for us all in an emergency.
