Pharma airfreight hub now complies with airfreight security regulations

Pharmaserv Logistics is approved as a regulated agent, also in Gross-Gerau

Just over a week ago, Pharmaserv Logistics’ new pharma airfreight hub and distribution centre in Gross-Gerau was successfully inspected by the Darmstadt District Council. The warehouse was therefore approved as a storage facility for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products. Now the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) has also conducted its site inspection, and has confirmed the premises’ airfreight security status.

A consistent safety concept and stable processes are required for the status as a regulated agent. These provisions are outlined and documented in a safety programme. “We would like to thank our airfreight security officer Ms Happel very much, who worked very hard to establish the conditions necessary for successful approval by the LBA,” says Dr. Martin Egger, Managing Director of Pharmaserv Logistics.

The pharmaceutical logistics service provider that specialises in the area of biologics (blood products, vaccinations and insulins) has therefore been approved as a regulated agent once again. This status enables pharmaceutical manufacturers, who are themselves known consignors, to handle airfreight processes without x-raying. This gives rise to more efficient processes and the risks associated with temperature fluctuations during the x-ray check are reduced.

Pharmaceutical companies that do not hold the status as known consignors will also benefit from Pharmaserv Logistics’ new airfreight hub. From now on, their products can be x-rayed in a temperature-controlled GDP environment at +15° to +25°C.

Just a few days after the successful LBA inspection, Dr. Egger and his team received the first pallet in the warehouse. Goods of existing customers will gradually be stored and re-located over the next few weeks, before goods from new customers can also be stored and handled at the new premises. “We are very pleased that our specially designed pharma airfreight hub and distribution centre has been accepted so well and so quickly,” says Manuel Papstein, Head of Business Development at Pharmaserv Logistics.
